Kathy Sweet Hands Duties to Vasiliy Buliga
01/23/12 – Kathy Sweet, our esteemed onsite porter for the past three and a half years, is retiring from The Vaux and CMI. Since Monday she's been training her replacement,
Vasiliy Buliga, who will start wielding his broom here on Monday, January 30. Kathy is looking forward to some leisure time, and Vasiliy is ready to make good on his promotion
from the ranks at CMI, where he has already been employed for three years. CMI is a family affair with the Buligas, who came to America from Ukraine in 1997.
His father and sister also work there. When you see "Vas," please introduce yourself.

Storing Bicycles
01/23/12 – A flurry of recent move-outs has relaxed bicycle storage congestion at The Vaux. After juggling shared brackets to put partners together wherever possible,
there are still two brackets free, temporarily bringing the waiting list for storage privileges to zero. If you're interested, now's the time to sign up. For more on bike storage rules,

Association Fees Rise 3% in 2012
01/09/12 – For each of the past two years The Vaux Finance Committee and Board of Directors have been able to hold the cost of running our establishment
to just about $600,000. But in 2011 several surprise expenses — unscheduled repairs, plus sharply increased water and natural gas costs — put us
$20,000 in the hole, using up all of our contingency fund. Without a fee increase, we would have no money available to deal with unexpected costs in the coming year.
Accordingly, the approved budget for 2012 includes a 3% increase, to $618,000 dollars, with a well-funded contingency ready to deal with whatever ill-wind fortune blows our way.

Savier Street Flats Breaks Ground
12/20/11 – The Con-way parking lot @ 23rd & Savier is no more. After months of delays, Mill Creek Residential Trust (the successor company to
Trammell Crow Residential, which built The Vaux) has broken ground on its new apartment complex, to be known as Savier Street Flats. When completed,
it will offer 179 mostly studio and one-bedroom units, plus a few larger two-bedroom apartments, and more than 6000 square feet of retail space on 23rd Avenue.
Unlike The Vaux, the new buildings won't have parking for all units, but they will have things we lack: fitness and social centers.
Construction is expected to take a year and finish in early 2013.

Holiday Social Event
12/20/11 – On Thursday December 8th, Vaux residents gathered in the Savier Lobby for a Holiday Happy Hour. The number of attendees varies at these quarterly
get-togethers, but this one was especially festive, with more than 45 people dropping in for wine, cheese, snacks, and neighborly chat. The event was staged
by the always energetic Vaux Social Committee.
