Vaux Grounds Spring into Bloom

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

05/09/12 – The Vaux courtyard and grounds are blooming in spectacular style as spring reaches midpoint. The rhodies have already reached their peak, following a strong showing by camellias earlier in the year. The pansies have been disappointing, but they will soon be replaced by impatiens, which like the sun and shade we'll have as the days warm up and weather improves. Dennis Seven Dees will soon be lightly pruning the Japanese maples to "open them up" and guard against snapped branches (taking care not to disturb any bird nests). Because of our good fortune (except for a problematic mahonia patch on Savier), Dirk Jongejan, our landscape committee of one, can confidently plan a smaller-than-usual upgrade this fall.
