I'd like to support a broader perspective on the building proposed to replace the Savier Post Office and a petition circulating regarding saving the two trees on NW 25th. A setback on
NW 25th (petition) would likely reposition the planned building more to the Savier side, where a green space facing the north (Savier) side had been planned. The green space might have to be abbreviated or eliminated entirely to accommodate set-back (this is already anticipated in the planning notes). I'd like to support the preservation of the green space in the plan and the routing of access to parking on the Thurman Street side. But mostly, my concern is for impacts on all residents of the Vaux/Savier side, where any repositioning of the building or editing of the green space could make a huge difference. , The developers want an office building of a certain size with a certain number of parking spaces. Likely there are trade-offs. The petition needs to give serious thought to preserving green space in the plan and to impacts on the entire north side. --Anita Helle
Thank you. I hope others can be persuaded. That green space is something to keep.
I agree -- better to keep the little park that is proposed than save the (very beautiful) trees on 24th. -- H
